Picture from Veterans Day Ceremony Check out this latest picture from Veterans Day, 11/11/09 at the Ceremony in Arlington National Cemetery. I don't know whether the National Anthem is being played, or the Flag is going by, or WHAT, but EVERYBODY in the picture is either saluting or has his hand over the HEART. All except ONE… Guess who. I do not make this stuff up!

Brother, Pierce, and Paw-Paw with opening day limits Paw-Paw and I with Limits Pat, Barry, Brother,Paw-Paw, and Pepper with Sunday's Limit

Opening Weekend
Opening weekend was a success for the Paw-Paw's Pirogue gang down in Delacroix with easy limits both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's hunt ended with six limits(mostly teal, a few greys)by 7:30. On Sunday, Paw-Paw, my brother, and I decide to gang up with my cousins Pat and Barry and all hunt over the same decoys. We were also joined by Barry's friend Mark who wanted to come along and film our hunt. Our five man limit consisted again of mainly teal, a couple of mottled ducks, and eight greys. It was a fantastic morning killing 30 ducks over a single spread and it was great to share the hunting experience with family and our new friend Mark.

REDFISH ON THE "FLY"
Thursday was Blast and "Flycast" . We got in the duck blind and it was game on!! Teal buzzing the decoys for the first half hour and then it went cold..After quite a few missed opputunities we put 6 blue wings on the lanyard. We could have limited out but hey you can't kill them all. Mr. Frank and Zach Tauzin were a blast!! I dropped them off and picked up Mr. Paul Lombardi at 9am. By 10 am he had landed 7 redfish on his fly-rod. Groups of 4-5 reds in the crysal clear water and they were hungry.. A sinking gold fly was the ticket, the reds attack it and from there Mr. Paul would put the smack on them. What a great trip..We ended the day with 24 redfish and 2 drum, all released except a f ..... Read More

Wonderful Treatment
Have you ever wanted to purchase something and wonder how it is made, time spent making the item and the people who make it. Well, living in New Iberia, I went to the place where "Pro Drive" is made for I was looking to go to a surface drive motor.Yes, went to Loreauville to see. What a wonderful experiance, "Peck" and the staff are accomodating and friendly. He'll show you the operation, you see the "folks" building the motors and the pride that is put into their product. The girls in the office are friendly and make you feel at home. When you pick up you're motor, the paperwork is done and your given a complete orientation on your motor. Oh, did I mention the "pups", if you like sweet ole ..... Read More

Cat Island NWR
Hey guys, Let me just start off by saying that I'm 17 years old, and looking for some public land to hunt ducks on. I don't have a boat, I do own an ATV though. Seeing that I'm located in Denham Springs, I was thinking about Cat Island NWR. Are there more than just Wood Ducks? If you guys have any advice to help a new duck hunter out, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks, Ryne

First time fishing Lake P
Hey guys me and iron man decided we were going to see what fishing the Causeway at Lake Pontchartrain was all about so we headed out at around 9 o clock this morning. we got there around 10ish and waited in the terribly long line to launch at the public ramp. when we got out there the Lake looked great. we didn't fish long, only for a few hours before it started to get rough and we ended up with 4 nice trout. Man the bite out there is finicky! we missed a ton of fish all because we just arent used to that kind of tap tap hit. The four fish that we caught were pretty good size and i caught the biggest trout ive ever caught today. i think i have found my main spot to fish being that i ..... Read More

EXCELLENT EDUCATION, SELF DEFENSE!!....
Clint Smith, Director of Thunder Ranch, is part Drill Instructor, And part standup comic. Here are a few of his observations on Tactics, firearms, self defense and life as we know it in the Civilized world. "The handgun would not be my choice of weapon if I knew I was going to a fight....I'd choose a rifle, a shotgun, an RPG or an atomic Bomb instead." "The two most important rules in a gunfight are: Always cheat and Always win." "Every time I teach a class, I discover I don't know something." "Don't forget, incoming fire has the right of way." Dularge Trout Fishing
A slow morning of trout fishing on the DU. NE winds were blowing 15-18mph and messed up the bite we were enjoying. I fished with Dave Manry, Hugh Fleming, and Richard West. The guys fished hard but it didn't happen for us today. We called it a day around 10:45 with 45 nice trout. Some days the fish win and today was one of those days. Good luck fishing. Why does the LDWF insist on such an early season?
I know the framework is set for so many years until the LDWF can change it again, but maybe the LDWF commissioners will listen to the duck hunters the next time they modify the structure of the seasons. I have preached this for years. I sure would like to see duck season open the Saturday before Thanksgiving and let it close on the last weekend of January for both zones. I know duck season cannot extend into February, but our season in the west zone is opening way too early and closes too early in January. Is it even necessary to have zones? And if we do have zones, shouldn't they be North and South and not East and West? The only valid excuse I hear for why the West Zone opens ..... Read More

RED FISH DAY
Yesterday I fished with Stan Easly his son Chad who is off to Iraq in Jan and Jeremy. It was my honor to put one of our brave service men on a bunch of fish today. The guys told at the dock they wanted some speckled trout but really wanted to catch some redfish. So I set my sights on redfish and catch a few trout along the way too. Things started out great and stayed that way all day. We caught redfish just about everywhere but a most were under sixteen inches, But some nice keeper fish in the mix. With just about a limit of redfish we got on a trout bite and finished the day with topping off the box with some nice speckled trout. The guy’s had blast and Chad has some good fishing stories to ..... Read More
