Prairieville man dies in Blood River boating accident

Alcohol likely a factor in crash, LDWF says

A 59-year-old Prairieville man died Saturday night when the boat he was operating struck a bulkhead and ejected him into the water, according to a news release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Larry Andre Jr. was killed in the accident, which occurred on the Blood River about 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, the release states. He was transported to North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, where he was pronounced dead.

His wife, who was in the boat with him, remained in the vessel during the crash and received minor injuries, according to the release.

Andre Jr. was not wearing a personal flotation device, and alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the accident, the release states.
