LDWF locates body of Grosse Tete angler

Gage apparently fell out of his boat near Ramah on Friday

Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries located the body of a Grosse Tete man who apparently fell out of his boat in a borrow pit north of Interstate 10 near Ramah.

The body of Donald Gage, 59, was recovered around 1:45 p.m. Friday afternoon, only about 45 minutes after agents were notified of a 10-foot boat found floating without an operator, according to a press release.

Agents suspect Gage was fishing when, for unknown reasons, he fell out of his boat, the release states. His body was turned over to the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office to determine an official cause of death, and the investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Gage was not wearing a life jacket when he was found, according to the release.
