Graham and Southern allegedly shot buck from Highway 577, LDWF says
Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries cited two men in connection with an illegally taken 9-pointer in October in Madison Parish.
David R. Graham, 26, of Waverly, and Jeremy Southern, 36, of Pioneer, were ticketed for hunting deer during illegal hours with artificial light and hunting from a public road. Graham also was cited for discharging a firearm from a public road, according to a news release.
On Dec. 29, agents received a tip about the incident, which allegedly occurred in October. According to the release, Graham and Southern confessed to agents that they used a spotlight and rifle to down the buck from Highway 577 north of Waverly.
Graham admitted to shooting the deer, the release states.
Hunting deer during illegal hours with artificial light brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Hunting from a public road carries a $100 to $350 fine and up to 60 days in jail and discharging a firearm from a public road brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail, according to the release.
The two men could also face civil restitution charges totaling $2,033 for the illegally taken deer.
