Decoys come in different styles

Decoys come in several different positions and styles. Some have the head of the decoy up and some have the head down; some decoys are in a bedding position, and one even portrays a deer in an estrus pose that can lure big bucks looking for romance.

But Richardson has a favorite pose he’s used for years.

“I, personally, like the head down, because that seems to be more of a relaxed look for a deer,” he explained. “With the head up, there’s nothing wrong with that at all and I believe that in the right situation the head up may be what you’d want.

“But I’ve always liked a head down decoy, personally.”
