The Kwik Klip

Every speck and redfish fisherman who stows his rods in vertical holders has snagged a shirt on an exposed treble hook, been bopped on the head by a popping cork flopping in the wind or has spent frustrating moments untangling a snarled rod instead of fishing.

Rykert Toledano Jr. has experienced all three — but unlike most he decided to do something about it.

He invented the Kwik Klip.

The idea came from checking out a woman’s hair clip as a snap to keep lures or popping corks protected.

“They didn’t work well, and they would break easily,” he said.

So he began tinkering.

First, he added UV protector to the plastic. Then he changed the design so the product was more useful to fishermen.

The result was something so simple but useful that every fisherman is tempted to ask himself, “Why didn’t I think of that?”

While Toledano doesn’t expect to get rich from the invention, it was too good not to share with others who fish.

The Kwik Klip is for sale at some South Louisiana tackle shops, can be ordered by contacting his charter service or purchased from him in person at his booth at the Louisiana Sportsman’s Show held each March in Gonzales.
