Surgeons remove bullet from game warden’s back

Donation account now set up through Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association

Surgeons in Shreveport on Saturday successfully removed a bullet from the back of a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agent who was shot Thursday evening during a traffic stop near the Wham Brake boat launch.

Sgt. Scott Bullitt, 32, of Jonesboro, was shot in the back about 6:45 p.m. during a traffic stop on the Russell Sage Wildlife Management Area by Luke Jarrod Hust, 29, of Monroe, who confessed to the shooting with State Police after the was apprehended.

“They did successfully remove the bullet from his back. Everything I’ve heard is the surgery went as well as could be,” LDWF spokesman Adam Einck said Tuesday afternoon. “It’s obviously a good thing they got the bullet out, but he’s still kind of in the same position he’s been in since this happened.

“He’s got a long road in front of him and I don’t think they’re really quite sure what his outcome is going to be.”

The Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association has set up a donation account for Bullitt and his family through Capital One.

The account number is 2082509472 and is listed under the Louisiana Wildlife Agents Association, and can be accessed through any branch location.

He remains in the Ouachita Parish Correctional Center without bond, according to the center’s website.
