The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission on Thursday adopted a Notice of Intent that would modify current crappie regulations on Eagle Lake in Madison Parish.
Passage of the NOI would change the daily take and size regulations to 30 fish per person with an 11-inch minimum length to establish consistency with Mississippi, which borders the lake on the east.
According to a press release, if identical regulations are approved there, the rule in Louisiana will become effective on Oct. 1, 2015 and remain in effect for a four-year period.
Future management of the lake will be determined after a stock assessment and angler opinion survey are administered at that time.

Interested persons may submit comments relevant to the proposed rule by July 6, 2015, to Randy Myers, Office of Fisheries, P.O. Box 98000, Baton Rouge, LA 70898-1000 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
