Miss Louisiana 2014, Lacey Sanchez, to appear on Sunday, March 15
If you’re looking for family fun – along with acres of boats, fishing and hunting equipment, ATVs and tractors at some of the best prices of the year – make plans now to go to the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales on March 12-15 for the 36th Annual Louisiana Sportsman Show and Festival.
More than 250 vendors will be on hand, offering acre upon acre of fishing tackle and hunting gear. But there are really three shows – the main show, a boat show and a power equipment show – held on the same grounds all weekend long.
And the good news is admission to all three shows is just $10 per day.
In addition to great prices at the show, there will be lots of family-oriented entertainment provided all weekend long.
Splash Dogs, which is sponsored by Realtree, features a running track from which dogs can jump for distance into a 40-foot pool as owners toss a bumper. Bring your dog to participate just for fun, or to compete to see who jumps the farthest.
Chainsaw carver Jason Emmons also will be on hand demonstrating his skills. Emmons, of St. Croix, Ind., has been carving since 2002, and has created has created pieces ranging from a 30-foot-tall Apollo 13 replica to a 3-inch dolphin – and pretty much everything in between.
And this year, come in on Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. to meet Miss Louisiana, Lacey Sanchez, of Baton Rouge. A collegiate pole vaulter at LSU, Sancez enjoys hunting and fishing, so be sure to stop by and get her autograph.
Show hours are 2 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
