ALAS state tournament set for March 7

LDWF seeks volunteers for Alexandria event at LSU AgCenter Storm Shelter

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is seeking volunteers to assist with the Archery in Louisiana Schools (ALAS) state tournament set for Saturday, March 7 in Alexandria.

Anyone 18 years and older can volunteer as a lane official, and will receive a tournament T-shirt and lunch on the day of the competition, which will be held at the LSU AgCenter Storm Shelter located at 8125 Highway 71.

First flight competitors will begin at 8 a.m., with the last flight starting at 5:20 p.m. An awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at about 6:45. Admission is $3 for adults, with those 18 and under getting in free.

About 800 of the top student archers will compete for the opportunity to qualify for the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) national tournament,  as well as win individual and team awards.
