Two arrested for alleged night hunting, narcotics violations in Morehouse Parish, LDWF says

Woodard, Simmons nabbed for hunting during illegal hours, possession of meth and drug paraphernalia

Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested two Bastrop men on Jan. 18 for alleged night hunting activity and narcotics violations in Morehouse Parish.

According to a news release, Timothy Woodard, 38, and Randall Simmons, 43, were arrested for hunting wild game quadrupeds during illegal hours and possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Agents were investigating night hunting activity in wheat fields near Viney Woods Road and Fluker Road when they allegedly observed the men actively night hunting with artificial light, the release states. After making contact with them, agents located a readily accessible rifle and methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

Both men were taken into custody and transported to the Morehouse Parish Jail, the release states.

Hunting wild game quadrupeds with an artificial light brings a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail.  Possession of methamphetamine brings up to a $5,000 fine and five years in jail, and possession of drug paraphernalia carries up to a $500 fine and six months in jail.
