Two Bridge City men sentenced for illegal red snapper sales in 2012

Both pled guilty to selling 655 pounds of snapper to undercover agents, LDWF says

Two men pleaded guilty this week to illegal red snapper sales relating to a Sept. 9, 2012 incident when agents were able to purchase 655 pounds of fish from them in Bridge City.

According to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Yoan Hernandez, 29, and Manuel Hernandez, 47, were ordered to pay $1,650 in restitution to the state by the 2nd Parish Court in the 26th Judicial District.

Yoan Hernandez was ordered to pay a fine of $835.50 with a suspended jail term of 60 days, and  Manuel Hernandez was ordered to pay a fine of $715.50 with a suspended jail term of 60 days, the release states.

According to the release, agents cited the men with three counts of not having federal reef fish permits, three counts of not having or acquiring individual fish quota (IFQ) of red snapper, three counts of selling fish without wholesale retail licenses, three counts of failing to maintain records and three counts of failing to complete commercial trip tickets.
