Rayne man cited for alleged fraudulent shrimp sales, LDWF says

Roche arrested for theft from sales in Acadia, Jeff Davis parishes

A Rayne man is facing four counts of theft by fraudulent shrimp sales after enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested him on Tuesday, according to a press release.

Agents arrested Shannon J. Roche, 37, and also cited him with failing to maintain records for the sales, which took place in Acadia and Jeff Davis parishes.

After receiving complaints from four customers, the press release states agents determined Roche allegedly sold less shrimp to consumers than what they actually paid for.

According to the release, agents arrested Roche on similar charges in Lafayette Parish last February.

Fraudulent shrimp sales brings a up to a $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail for each count.  Failing to maintain records brings up to a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail for each count, the release states.
