Trophy taxidermy tips

Following these steps can insure that your trophy buck, duck or fish become art in the skillful hands of a taxidermist:

Take photos: Take lots of pictures of your deer, duck, or fish to help your taxidermist see what it looked like prior to being skinned.

Be prepared: If you’re going to mount a duck or goose, carry a plastic bag in which to put the bird, then keep it away from dogs and out from other hunters’ feet.

Shorten the freeze: It is not recommended to freeze anything very long before going to the taxidermist. Freezing will eventually dry out game.

Watch the knife: Don’t slit the throat of a deer and destroy the cape, mistakes that rarely can be repaired.
