Hackney targes marsh bass, redfish under same grass beds in Delacroix

Brand new Sportsman TV episode airs tonight at 6:30 on CST

While many anglers shy away from vegetation, Bassmaster Elite Series pro and Sportsman TV host Greg Hackney has made a good living punching through thick grass mats for big bass.

In tonight’s brand new episode of Sportsman TV, ‘Surf and Turf,” Hackney and producer Jared Serigné crank it up a notch and target both redfish and ‘green trout’ under the same grass beds around Delacroix.

Serigné traded in his camera for a spinning reel in this episode, and the two worked in and around milfoil beds, where both redfish and bass gather to feed on crabs, mullet and other baitfish.

Hackney did most of his damge on Stike King’s Rage Blade tipped with a KVD 4-inch Swim-N Shiner, while Serigné used an 1/8-ounce weedless gold spoon to move through the grass easily.

Hackney details his grass-fishing technique you can use into the fall to catch plenty of redfish and marsh bass.
