A divided Supreme Court on Monday ruled 5-4 in favor of stricter scrutiny of gun purchases, where the buyer must disclose if he intends to keep or sell the new weapon.
A divided Supreme Court on Monday ruled 5-4 in favor of stricter scrutiny of gun purchases, where the buyer must disclose if he intends to keep or sell the new weapon.

The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a federal law that makes it a crime for one person to buy a gun for another without disclosing that fact on the federal purchase form.

The law was challenged by a former policeman who purchased a gun for his uncle so he could get a law enforcement discount - even though his uncle could have purchased the gun legally.
