Search crews recover body from Lake Charles

Dixon Jr. apparently fell overboard late Saturday night, LDWF said

Search and rescue teams discovered the body of a missing 45-year-old man in Lake Charles early Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

George Dixon Jr., of Lake Charles, was onboard a 35-foot cabin cruiser when he apparently fell overboard without a personal flotation device and did not surface late Saturday evening.

LDWF agents worked with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and found his body using side-scan sonar about 2:25 Sunday morning, the release states.

Dixon’s death is at least the third boating-related fatality worked by LDWF since the Memorial Day weekend.
