Option to donate to Hunters for the Hungry will be available during license purchase

Program begins June 1 with hunting and fishing licenses, LDWF says

Beginning June 1, you’ll have the option to make a monetary donation to Hunters for the Hungry when you purchases your next Louisiana fishing or hunting license.

According to a news release, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has teamed with its license vendor to create a donation option during the sales transaction.

The vendor, ACTIVE Network, has provided the necessary software and staff time at no cost to the department, the release states.

“We support the Hunters for the Hungry mission and commend ACTIVE for making this fund donation option a simple process for our outdoors men and women,” LDWF Secretary Robert Barham said.

HFH is a non-profit organization that coordinates the sharing of wild game and fish to combat hunger. When someone donates all or part of their harvest or catch to a designated HFH processor, that donation is processed at no cost to the donor, and is then distributed to the needy via food banks, soup kitchens, shelters and other agencies, the release states.
