Handgun and rifle ranges at Sherburne WMA to close temporarily starting May 12

Improvements being made to shooting line roof and structure, LDWF says

The handgun and rifle ranges at Sherburne Wildlife Management Area will be closed starting May 12 while improvements are made to the shooting line roof and structure.

According to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the range was damaged during the 2011 Morganza Spillway opening and construction should be completed by the end of June.

The shotgun and archery ranges at Sherburne WMA will remain open while this project is completed, according to the release.
