Joseph Harbor boat launch at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge to close for modifications

Work to extend back down ramps scheduled for April 2-17

The Joseph Harbor boat launch at Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge in Grand Chenier will be closed for construction April 2-17 to extend the back down ramps, according to a press release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The modifications will allow the public to launch during low tide, the release states.

During construction, both the boat launch and parking area off of La. Hwy. 82 will be closed.

However, the East End Locks boat launch, which is also accessible from La. Hwy. 82, will remain open on the eastern portion of the refuge, according to the release.

Once the Joseph Harbor launch construction is completed, the East End Locks boat launch will undergo the same modifications to extend each of the back down ramps there.
