2014 recreational red snapper scheduled for 40-day season

NOAA says season set for June 1 – July 11, plans teleconference and RAP sessions

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration announced the 2014 dates for the Gulf of Mexico’s recreational red snapper season.

The season is set to open at 12:01 a.m. on Sunday, June 1 and will close on Friday, July 11 at 12:01 a.m.

Additionally, a teleconference with regional administrator Roy Crabtree to discuss various topics related to red snapper management has been scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 9 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Finally, a series of Recreational Angler Participation sessions, or RAP sessions, has been scheduled across the region in January to hear about issues facing Gulf of Mexico anglers.

In Louisiana, the sessions will be held on Jan. 15 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Mockler Beverage Company, located at 11811 Reiger Road in Baton Rouge, and on Jan. 16 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Service Chevrolet, located at 1212 Ambassador Caffery Parkway in Lafayette.
