Deer hunters reminded about either-sex tag option for 2013-14 season

Tag provides for fourth antlerless deer or third antlered deer, LDWF says

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is reminding state hunters the six tags issued with 2013-14 big game licenses include an either-sex tag.

According to a press release, licensed hunters can legally harvest three antlerless, two antlered and one deer of either sex.

This means hunters can choose either a fourth antlerless deeer, or a third antlered deer with the either-sex tag.

The total season harvest limit remains at six, according to the release.

Changes also have been implemented in the number and boundaries of some Deer Management Areas, and hunters are encouraged to refer to the printed 2013-14 hunting regulations pamphlet, or review the information online here.

All deer must be tagged before being moved from the field, and each harvested deer must be reported within seven days via phone at 1-866-484-4805 or via the online reporting system here. Click on the “Validate Deer Tags” button when reporting online.

Lifetime license holders, youth hunters 15-and-under and seniors not required to purchase hunting licenses can obtain deer tags free of charge at any license vendor, according to the release.
