Sunfish hybridize more than any other family of freshwater or saltwater fish. Often a successful day will yield 200 bream, and it’s a rare day when at least one hybrid between species isn’t in the bunch.
Any and all species of bream will hybridize with each other, although the hybridization king is the green sunfish.
Hybrids will show a little of the characteristics of each parent species, and it is fun to speculate which species produced them.
Hybrids very often grow larger than either parent species, and offer just as good table fare as any other bream.
