Scott Walker, who goes by "nightfisher" on the LouisianaSportsman.com forum, said trout were moving into the interior Delacroix marshes earlier this month. |
“We caught 75 before before 8:30 AM on Friday and 115 before 9:30 on Saturday.”. Banca said of a recent trip. “In those two days, we hit Lake Campo, Four Horse Lake, Lake John, and Bay Round. We actually caught around 30 reds in Bay Round.
“Shrimp are everywhere in Lake Campo and Four Horse Lake right now. There are trout all over Delacroix right now, though.”
Banca said the majority of the specks were caught in Four Horse Lake; the points on either side of the bayou leading to Lake Campo from Four Horse Lake were especially productive.
“We used live shrimp the entire time for specks; it’s always a faster morning when I use live shrimp.” he said. “For redfish, I always put an 18-inch leader under a popping cork with bait shrimp on a 1/2-pound jighead.”
According to recreational tournament fisherman, Scott Walker, the specks are spread out but will move to areas like Point Chenes Bay, Oak River and the Twin Pipeline.
“I went out Oct. 4 and basically checked all of the winter time spots,” Walker said. “We caught 30 specks and 30 white trout.
“We just hit the current lines by Pointe Chenes for most of our specks. I saw a decent amount of shrimp jumping in the current and that put us on the fish.”
