LDWF agent’s death ruled accident

Louisiana State Police determine Sgt. Paul Stuckey died after accidental discharge of shotgun.

The Sept. 30 death of a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries agent was an accident, the Associated Press has reported.

The ruling by the Louisiana State Police ends speculation surrounding the death of 47-year-old Sgt. Paul Stuckey, who was found shot in the chest on River Road near St. Francisville by fishermen.

Lt. Doug Cain with LSP said detectives reported their findings last week to Stuckey’s family and the command staff of the LDWF, the AP reported.

Cain said Stuckey was investigating an active complaint of night hunting in the area, according to the AP.

He said it was obvious Stuckey was setting up surveillance and had an accidental discharge of his shotgun, the AP news reports state.
