Father kills son in hunting accident

This group has been hunting WMAs for four decades, and they’ve mastered the skills to put some really nice bucks on the wall. More importantly, they have an absolute blast while they’re doing it.

A father killed his adult son in an apparent hunting accident near Singer on Saturday night, according to news reports. The shooting was under investigation by Beauregard Parish and Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries agents, WAFB.com reported.

Neither the names of the victim nor the father were released.

Investigators told news agencies the 39-year-old victim and his father were hunting about 6 p.m. when the younger man walked into the father’s line of sight. He was struck in the chest with a bullet from a .270-caliber hunting rifle, the news report says.

The son later died from his injuries.

The Beauregard Parish sheriff’s office said no charges were expected be filed because they believe the shooting was an accident.
