Darren Matherne won the first round of the LouisianaSportsman.com Trail Cam Contest for his photo of a great velvet buck tearing up some bushes.
“(We were) looking to see if any action goes on behind the camp ground, and to our delight this is what finds us,” Matherne said of his “Look who’s hiding” photo.
Matherne, known on the Web site as “hornhunter60,” will receive a free one-year subscription to Louisiana Sportsman magazine and an Official Sportsman Gear prize pack. His image also will move on to the final voting round to be held in February.
His image beat out five other images, receiving 48 percent of the votes cast.
Voting will continue, with the next session being held in early November to choose a winner from among the trail cam photos entered into the contest in October.
