Last call for Bowie Outfitters Bag A Buck contest

Hunters wanting to enter the Second Annual Bowie Outfitters Bag A Buck contest have until April 23 at 1 p.m. to have their deer scored at the Baton Rouge store. The contest awards ceremony will take place the following day.

LouisianaSportsman.com will be on had to post photos and videos throughout the day of hunters with their big bucks. Former LSU baseball great and retired pro Ben McDonald also will be on hand.

To enter, hunters must fill out a registration form to which a photograph of the rack must be attached. Registration forms must be mailed or dropped off at Bowie Outfitters at 8630 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge, La. 70810, with delivery no later than 1 p.m. on April 23.

“If you enter any legal buck, even a spike, you’re eligible to win the mini-truck,” Bowie Outfitters General Manager David Reynerson said.

During the awards ceremony on April 24, former Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries biologist David Moreland will be on hand to score deer and announce category winners.

A wall of the store will be filled with deer entered into the contest, providing easy viewing of some of the big bucks that were entered.

In addition, everyone at the store will be eligible for 10 hourly prizes that be given away by drawing beginning at 9:30 a.m. You do not have to register a deer in the contest to win these prizes.

“We have some really good prized to give away,” Reynerson said. “Some of these are $200 or more prizes.”

In addition, all contest participants will receive 10 percent off all store merchandise except guns.

A free jambalaya lunch also will be served.

At 2 p.m. category winners (muzzleloader, youth, out of state, ladies, bow and rifle) will be announced.
