Federally established Youth Waterfowl Hunting days begin Nov. 7, and hunters are reminded that only those 15 years of age or younger can participate in these special hunts.

These age requirements are different than the state rules, which classify hunters younger than 18 as youths for the purpose participating in special youth hunts.

This year’s federal Youth Waterfowl Hunting Days dates are Nov. 7-8 in the West Zone and Nov. 14-15 in the East Zone.

All youth hunters must be accompanied by an adult (18 years old or older), and may take ducks, geese, mergansers, coots and gallinules. Daily bag and possession limits are the same as during the regular season.

Please consult the 2009-10 Louisiana Hunting Regulations pamphlet, local LDWF office or the Web site at www.wlf.louisiana.gov for additional information.
