LDWF: Red snapper harvest edges up to 506,000 pounds

According to the LDWF, about 237,000 pounds of red snapper remain to be harvested before the state reaches its annual recreational allocation of 743,000 pounds.

About 68 percent of total recreational allocation has been reached

Through July 15, Louisiana’s recreational anglers have harvested slightly more than 506,000 pounds of red snapper — or 68 percent of the state’s annual private recreational allocation of 743,000 pounds.

That means the current weekends-only season will continue to run until recreational landings approach the allocation total — so about 237,000 pounds remain to be harvested.
