Video: Fishing for big Grand Isle specks with Tommy Vidrine

Free-lining live shrimp at the Caminada Pass Jetty means hammer trout

If you’ve never been lucky enough to fish for some big Grand Isle specks on Tommy Vidrine’s boat, then check out this video for the next best thing to being there.

On a recent trip with Tony and Ann Taylor from Louisiana Sportsman, Vidrine details how he targets big specks at the Caminada Pass Jetty this time of year with nothing more than big live shrimp from Bridge Side Marina and a 2/0 Kahle hook.

Vidrine also discusses which tide he favors at the rocks, how he hooks his shrimp, which line he uses and why nice 3- and 4-pound specks are tougher to catch than schoolies.

The video below captures a great trip on a beautiful day in Grand Isle — and lots of great fishing information you can use whereever you target speckled trout on the coast.
