St. Martinville man dies in boating incident near Lake Fausse Point

Victim didn’t return home from Tuesday fishing trip, LDWF says

A 56-year-old St. Martinville man’s body was recovered Wednesday from a borrow pit near Lake Fausse Point about 10 miles north of Charenton in Iberia Parish, according to the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

The body of William Londo Jr., 56, was turned over to the Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office around noon on Wednesday to determine an official cause of death, according to a news release from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

According to his family, the release states he left to go fishing about 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in a small flat boat and never returned.

It is not known how or why Londo entered the water, but his body was recovered without a personal flotation device, according to the release.
