Four dogs killed during attempted break-in at Stephensville camp

St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office seeking the public’s assistance in case

According to media reports, the St. Martin Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting deaths of four dogs at a camp near Stephensville.

KATC-TV in Lafayette reported the incident took place at a camp on Six Mile Lake near American Island. Deputies believe the Labrador retrievers were killed between Sunday, March 18 at 2 p.m. and Monday, March 19 at 11 a.m.

All four dogs, which were ultimately found by their owner, were shot and thrown into a bayou after apparently confronting someone attempting to burglarize the camp.
