Sixth season begins tonight at 6:30 on CST
Sportsman TV kicks off its sixth season tonight with an episode that will be sure to get bass fanatics fired up.
Bassmaster Elite Series pro Greg Hackney is back as host, and he and Gator Tail owner Kyle Broussard got together for a fishing trip in the Atchafalaya Basin. Despite less-than-ideal conditions, the duo put together a nice bag and a very informative show.
“We like to kick every season off fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin” Hackney said. “I think a lot of people are already fishing the Basin, and hopefully we can help them out.”
And although the episode was shot in the Basin, the techniques Hackney used can be replicated across the state, and even the region.
“Everything you will see in this episode, you can do on your home lake or river certain times of year,” he said.
The key to success was finding the right group of cypress trees in one of the Atchafalaya’s larger lakes. Some held fish, others didn’t — Hackney suspects the difference could have been the type of water bottom, and details his thoughts in the episode.
The bait of the day was Strike King’s 3/8-ounce Hack Attack Select spinnerbait. Watch the show to see which colors and blades Hackney likes best.
You can see the show tonight, March 1, on Cox Sports Television at 6:30. To check local listings for Cox Sports Television, click here.
