LDWF agent rescues two Belle Chasse teens swamped in Lake Salvador

Boat capsized after taking on water, LDWF says

An enforcement agent with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries rescued two teenagers Saturday afternoon after their boat capsized in Lake Salvador.

According to a news release, LDWF agent Joshua Laviolette was on patrol in the area after 5 p.m. and rescued the two 17-year-old boys from the water and brought them to a boat launch where their families were waiting.

The operator of the boat said they broke down in the middle of the lake and started to take on water because of high winds and waves overtaking the vessel. The two boys didn’t have life jackets, but no one was injured in the incident, the release states.
