An angler in the Texas City Jaycees Tackle Time Fishing Tournament reeled in a giant hammerhead shark this weekend.
And by giant, we mean more than 1,000 pounds of shark.
According to KXAN-TV, Tim McClellen smashed a 30-year Texas record when he reeled in the beast on July 9, and easily surpassed the 871-pound Gulf of Mexico record hammerhead caught in 1980.
From the looks of the photo posted on the Texas City Jaycees’ Facebook page, the shark appears to be in the 14- to 15-foot range.
Needless to say, McClellen took home a first place trophy for the catch.
