On Wednesday, I fished with Capt. Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charters and the redfish were on fire.

Several schools roamed the upper portion of the lake, including jumbos like the 38-incher pictured. That bull was part of a school given away by seagulls vigorously diving.

It ate a 3-inch Big Bite Real Deal Shad rigged on a Buckeye Lures Su-Spin Blade jighead.

In addition to several more reds, we put together a nice box of specks as well.

Rue has more than 30 years of experience on Big Lake, and is one of the most versatile captains on the estuary. He can target any species, as well as put you on the trophy trout that make the lake famous.
