Agents arrest angler accused of child sex trafficking, LDWF says

Incident occurred in Violet Canal on Feb. 26

Enforcement agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested a fugitive out of Orleans Parish wanting for alleged child sex trafficking after conducting a boating safety compliance check in the Violet Canal.

Jean Luc Williams, 26, of New Orleans, was cited on Feb. 26 for failing to have a boat registration onboard and for failing to complete boating education requirements, according to a press release.

Agents on patrol in St. Bernard Parish observed Williams fishing alone in the Violet Canal, and after conducting the inspection, learned that he had an active warrant out for his arrest in Orleans Parish on the sex trafficking charges since October of 2016, the release states.

Williams was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Bernard Parish Jail, according to the release.
