Sac-a-lait aren’t nicknamed “papermouths” for nothing.
Hooks easily tear from on the hook set, which isn’t conducive to getting crappie in the boat.
Jeff Bruhl has found a way to set the hook that allows him to land a lot more than the average fisherman.
“When you get a bite, you want to let them take it a couple of seconds; then set the hook,” Bruhl said. “If you set the hook into the papermouth part, you won’t land as many.
“If you give a pop, set the hook straight up and drive the hook into that bone in the roof of their mouth, you’re going to land a lot more fish.”
