Sac-a-lait can be notoriously picky when it comes to color, so Bruhl keeps a variety in his box. His favorite is pink/white, but he also uses blue/white, black/chartreuse or black/fire tail.
“Any kind of minnow imitation color is good for the Tchefuncte,” he said.
Having baits slip down on the hooks can be frustrating when you’re on a hot bite with any species, so this angler doesn’t use traditional tube jigs all that often.
“I like the solid bodies because they stay on the hook better,” Bruhl said. “The Matrix Minis are really good. I’ve had a lot of success with them.”
He particularly likes the ladies night and blue horizon-colored versions.
