Spike, doe found in back of pickup truck, LDWF says
Agents with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries arrested a 46-year-old Waterproof man for allegedly hunting from his pickup truck on a Mississippi River levee road in Concordia Parish.
Tyrone Washington was booked for shooting from a levee road, hunting from a moving vehicle during illegal hours, possession of hydrocodone and driving while intoxicated, according to a news release.
The incident occurred on Jan. 29 near the Tensas and Concordia Parish line when the suspect was observed hunting from his truck, the release states.
After a brief vehicle chase, agents made contact with Washington and allegedly found a spike and doe in the back of his truck. Washington also was in possession of prescription pills without a prescription, and was under the influence, according to the release.
Washington was booked into the Concordia Parish Jail, and his .22 rifle and the two deer were seized in the investigation, the release states.
Possession of hydrocodone without a prescription carries up to a $5,000 fine and five years in jail. DWI carries a $300 to $1,000 fine and up to six months in jail. Hunting deer during illegal hours brings a $900 to $950 fine and up to 120 days in jail. Hunting from a moving vehicle carries a $250 to $500 fine and up to 90 days in jail. Hunting from a levee road brings a $50 fine and up to 30 days in jail, according to the release.
Washington may also face civil restitution totaling $3,249 for the replacement value of the illegally taken deer.
