Check out video of giant Florida gator

Hikers capture footage of massive reptile in Polk County

Where’s Troy Landry when you need him?

The star of Swamp People on the History Channel would probably have loved to fill a tag with the giant gator that was captured on video Sunday east of Tampa, Fla.

Apparently it’s well known in those parts, and even has a nickname – but “Humpback” appeared quite unfazed by all the attention as it  slowly crossed a trail in the marsh.

Louisiana’s record gator was reportedly taken in 1890 near Vermilion Bay and measured more than 19 feet long.

Humpback, though impressive to watch, is estimated in the 13- to 15-foot range, so it’s got some growing to do to catch up.
