Organizations promote traditional archery

The Southern Traditional Archery Association is committed to the preservation of traditional archery in Mississippi.

Founded in 2002, the group has since organized several shooting competitions across Mississippi to get traditional shooters together.

A list of upcoming shoots can be found on the organization’s website at southerntraditionalarchery.com.

Across the boarder, the Louisiana Traditional Bowmen club has been in operation since 1993, and is dedicated to preserving the sport of traditional hunting in the Bayou State.

This is accomplished through meetings and events such as shooting competitions held across Louisiana each year.

“It gives the people who enjoy traditional archery a place to go shoot,” LTB president Stephen Raggio said.

The LTB also works with local schools and Boy Scout troops to improve existing archery programs.
