Got out on the water yesterday with a couple on their honeymoon. We started dark and early as we made our way out to the hallowed fishing grounds. Wind was up, noticed the flags flapping in Chalmette while en route. Other fishermen know the game; watching trees, smoke stacks, car lot sales flags... everything pointed to chop and stained water. Sure enough it was about that when we reached open water. Decided to give it a shot in the area we have been fishing anyway and got on a slow but steady trout bite mixed with 10 million croakers. Fished there most of the morning pecking away at um while I heard the other guys struggling as well at all the other locations we might run to. Ended up getting a save from a patch of birds a few hundred yards from where we were to finish off our limit of trout. It was every cast action on trout with even a two keeper trout on one top dog cast when we first rolled up. And the biggest bonus was right as we pollished off our trout a big daddy monsta red crashed one of the baits. Pulled anchor and drifted with him until we tempted him into the net for a photo session. Well done on the fight Brian that was one of the toughest fighting reds I have ever encountered, this guy would just not give up! Hit a couple redfish shorelines on the way in but more horseflies then keepers so we let the new wifey persuade us to heading to the barn. ;D
