EDITORIAL: LWF Commission should 'take LDWF to the woodshed,' override latest recreational fisheries closures - August 17, 2010 My father had a simple rule when I was growing up: When he gave instructions, he didn’t repeat himself – without some physical reinforcement that made it uncomfortable to sit down. It seems those making decisions at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries are in need of some of my good old dad’s style of education.
Federal agreement, not science behind new recreational closures, LDWF official says - August 16, 2010 Anglers rejoiced when the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission overrode almost all recreational inshore fishing closures in July, and it seemed the panel’s directions to the agency it oversees was clear: no closures that weren’t called for by science or the presence of heavy oil.
No change in recreational fishing closures, openings promised - August 5, 2010 Three weeks after most fishing closures enacted in response to the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill were overturned by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission, there still are numerous areas closed to recreational anglers – and that didn’t change during today’s (Aug. 5) commission meeting.
Recreational fishing reopens at mouth of Mississippi River - July 29, 2010 Recreational fishing reopens at the mouth of the Mississippi River today at 6 p.m., the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness announced. The area has been closed since early May when oil from the destroyed BP Deepwater Horizon began making landfall.
BP oil spill not set to put off waterfowl hunting at this time, LDWF says - July 16, 2010 The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will hold six meetings between July 26 and Aug. 3 across the coastal region to address concerns of waterfowl hunters about potental impacts of oil in coastal marshes and the upcoming hunting season.
Most Louisiana recreational fishing reopens for first time since BP oil spill - July 14, 2010 For the past three months, Louisiana’s recreational anglers have had to surf Internet sites and study maps with their GPS units in hand to determine if they could legally fish their favorite areas.
Those days, for the most part, have come to an end.
Called Beshel's Marina to find out how the Fishing reports were lately. Report was that it's a day by day situation. No live shrimp available right now.

All recreational finfishing has been reopened in state waters - with no closures due to the oil spill. That means you can go where you want and make your own decisions.
A motion has just been made to immediately reopen ALL state waters to recreational finfish fishing. This would not cover recreational shrimping and crabbing.
